Hurricane Harvey

I read an article about the recent flooding in Texas by the New York Time called Hurricane Harvey: The Devastation and What Comes Next. Some parts of Texas have received up to fifty inches of rain and some cities are underwater. The dangers of the flooding are not just drowning but, displaced wildlife, sewage water, and broken objects that you cannot see. At least 39 people have died including a mom who was found with her three year-old son holding on to her. Help in Texas is going to come slow.
     Some people are making an effort to help out others by turning their stores into shelters. Even J.J. Watt, who plays for the Texans in the NFL, is helping out. He raised over 18.5 million dollars, which is more than his salary. Louisiana experience something similar last year. Hurricane Harvey can tear a house apart but it can bring a community together.

    Great post, your use of details and descriptions throughout your paragraphs was really good. I like how you used details and adjectives to describe the effects!

 This week in my book the 13 year old boy, who got taken to the grand Tetons by his grandfather, shot his first elk. The next day when they go to get the elk they are packing it onto their horses when a bear come by. The bear had smelled the elk and it hadn't noticed the boy until him and his grandfather tried to get on their horses. The bear charged at them and the horses took off throughout the woods. The boys horse tried to make a sharp turn and he got thrown off and rolled down the side of a hill into some brush.      The boy got up and tried to call for his grandfather when the bear came running down the hill charging. The boy dropped to the ground and put his hands behind his neck. The bear smacked him with its paw. He rolled down the hill some more and rolled into a creek. He tried to stand up but his knee was sprained. He called for his grandfather who was laying right behind him in the icy flowing water.

Fall Break Free Post

     Over Fall break I went to Texas de Brazil which is a Brazilian inspired steakhouse. I have drove past it so many times but I had never actually been inside so I was very excited. When my family and I walked in, we saw this giant display of flowers above the buffet. The restaurant had a massive wine cellar with glass walls so you could see inside. There were ladders on either side so you could get to the bottles at the top. We walked to the front counter and the lady asked us to follow her.      When my family and I sat down, the waiter explained to us how the restaurant worked. There was a little circle-shaped card that had a green side and a red side. The green side told the waiters to bring more food and the red side told them to stop. Soon after he was done explaining people started walking up to our table with big skewers and carving knives. Dear 8 Year-Old

     By the time you are eight, you usually find out what you are good at. Work hard at these things cause they will be what you are known for. It can be a certain sport, playing an instrument, fishing. Don't waist your time on things you were not meant for and focus on the things you excel in. I figured this out when I was around eight and I discovered that I wanted to play basketball instead of baseball because I liked basketball more and I was better at it.      As you grow older you may discover more talents that you have. I have been fishing ever since I was little but not every day like I want and try to do now. I only discovered recently that I was good at fishing and now I have found every pond near Baton Rouge that has fish in it. Always hold on to the things that you are good at and work hard at them because they represent you.
