Reading blog 10

This week in my book the 13 year old boy, who got taken to the grand Tetons by his grandfather, shot his first elk. The next day when they go to get the elk they are packing it onto their horses when a bear come by. The bear had smelled the elk and it hadn't noticed the boy until him and his grandfather tried to get on their horses. The bear charged at them and the horses took off throughout the woods. The boys horse tried to make a sharp turn and he got thrown off and rolled down the side of a hill into some brush.      The boy got up and tried to call for his grandfather when the bear came running down the hill charging. The boy dropped to the ground and put his hands behind his neck. The bear smacked him with its paw. He rolled down the hill some more and rolled into a creek. He tried to stand up but his knee was sprained. He called for his grandfather who was laying right behind him in the icy flowing water.

Reading blog 9

In my personal reading titled "There Will be Bears" a boy and his grandfather have traveled to the grand Tetons to hunt elk. Once they got to the lodge they hopped on some horses and went to go find a herd. They found one and the kid shot one but they had to go and track it. It was beginning to get dark. They found the elk soon though and field dressed it.      They next day the grandfather and the boy went out on their horses again to go get the elk because they could not bring it all home in one night. They got to it and started picking it up when the horses started getting startled. A bear showed up and the boy and his grandfather got onto their horses and rode away fast.

Fall Break Free Post

Over Fall break I went to Texas de Brazil which is a Brazilian inspired steakhouse. I have drove past it so many times but I had never actually been inside so I was very excited. When my family and I walked in, we saw this giant display of flowers above the buffet. The restaurant had a massive wine cellar with glass walls so you could see inside. There were ladders on either side so you could get to the bottles at the top. We walked to the front counter and the lady asked us to follow her.      When my family and I sat down, the waiter explained to us how the restaurant worked. There was a little circle-shaped card that had a green side and a red side. The green side told the waiters to bring more food and the red side told them to stop. Soon after he was done explaining people started walking up to our table with big skewers and carving knives. They would ask you if you would like any and if you said yes they would cut off a piece of meat from their skewer and put it on your pla

Response To Short Story "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings"

The short story A very Old Man With Enormous Wings is about an old angel who falls from the sky during a storm into a poor couples courtyard. In this story the setting is heavily connected to the mood. It had rained for three days and there were crabs in the couples house. the beach had turned from sparkling grains of sand to mush. When the angel fell into the couples courtyard, they put him into the chicken coup. Soon people from all around were coming to see the angel.      The first night the angel was there, the rain stopped. The couple were charging people to see the angel and soon they became rich. The mood had gone from gloomy because of the rain to exciting because of all the people coming to see the angel. The family built a mansion with all the money they got from the people. Then the angel regrew his feathers that he had lost and flew away.

A Short Story

I rode my bike down the road too the bridge above the creek. It had rained yesterday so the water was above average hight and flowing hard. I pulled over into the woods on my bike and dropped it off into the bushes. I came out of the woods and back onto the bridge to look down at he flowing water. I watched as the leaves got sucked under by the current and then resurfaced a couple seconds later on a calmer stretch of the creek. After watching the water for a while I walked along the bridge to the other side where there was a tiny pond off to the left side of the road. I walked up to the bank of the shallow pond. The water was sort of murky.      I made a cast and my lure skipped across the surface of the water all the way to a log sticking up out of the water. The lure skipped and bounced off the log with a thud and then sank slowly into the water. It hadn't even reached the bottom when I felt a giant tap and set the hook. The line shot off to the side and then a big bass flew out

Response to "Harrison Bergeron"

The short story "Harrison Bergeron" starts off by giving back ground information such as the setting and what is going on. The main conflict in this story is Person vs. Machine. Everyone has a dissability according to how good they are at something to where everyone is equal. There have been devices put into the ears of smart people to make noises to distract them when they are thinking.      A couple were sitting on their couch in their home. The man named George was very smart he had a device in his ear to keep him equal to his wife Hazel, who was not the smartest person. Their son, Harrison Bergeron, had been taken by the government because he was good at everything. While George and Hazel were watching ballerinas on their TV, Harrison bursted in and began to dance with one of the ballerinas. He took off her mask that made her appear ugly because she was the prettiest of the ballerinas. The action in the short story began to rise. Harrison removed the handicaps from
